The Stone Masters inc Story is about a family owned and operated By Dan and Ann Marie DiTomaso. I am Dan DiTomaso. When Ann Marie and I did our own kitchen we wanted to select stone slabs for our project. We searched and searched but found little. Finally, we went to Lowes, only to be sent to a local fabrication facility that had a very limited slab selection. We thought to ourselves, there must be a better way. This was back before the internet made finding things easier.
House Flipping
In the mid to late 90’s Ann Marie and I were buying and selling houses. All of the houses got granite kitchens and tile bathrooms. I would fabricate the stone counters and set the tile myself. Red Barn repairs is the name of our real-estate company. Ann Marie would sell the houses that I renovated. Ann Marie and I along with my cousin Philip Longo started Stone Masters Inc. This was in response to high prices and poor service that was available in the Chester County area. Philip and I traveled and studied the market. We studied stone production tools and equipment. We went to trade shows and met with stone importers and specialized equipment vendors. After considerable research and due diligence, we looked for space. Originally, Stone Masters Inc. was located in Aston Pennsylvania.
The Beginning
With a few ads and word of mouth, customers came. Philip and I performed every aspect of templating, fabrication, polishing and installation ourselves. Shortly thereafter, we hired experienced fabricators, installers, and templators Pretty soon we had a regular flow of jobs to perform and needed sales help. Ann Marie DiTomaso was a natural sales person. When Ann Marie started, so did Jack our Labradoodle. Jack has been at Stone Masters almost every day of his life. The Stone Masters Inc Story is not complete without Jack at the center.
Big Move, Big Investment
Moving the company to Kennett Square was the next major development. We invested in automation and hired and trained a team of designers to assist customers with overall shapes, edges, sink, faucets and back-splash designs and decisions. A CNC, digital templating, photo slab layout software and a state of the art 50,000 PSI Sawjet are in the current “tool-kit” making Stone Masters one of the areas most technologically advanced stone fabrication shops in the Delaware Valley. In 2010 we added an experienced tile installation crew as well as becoming a licensed plumber to augment the product line and make our customer visions a reality.
New Building
Stone Masters invested in an all new purpose built showroom/warehouse for showcasing stone slabs. This freed up existing space to expand capacity and allow customers to view stones out of the weather. Every year we added new products and services. This has been logical, methodical and in a controlled growth business model. We started with stone and added tile, followed by plumbing and removal. Later came cabinetry sales and full remodeling services. Finally, this includes installation of all of the above products and services.
