Choosing the Right Kitchen Sink!

Selecting the right kitchen sink is an often overlooked part of the kitchen remodeling process. Once a sink is selected an exact hole is cut in the stone, anchors are also drilled into the stone for sink clips to hold it into place, and finally it is siliconed in place to protect against moisture.

So once a sink is chosen, there’s no going back to get a bigger one or to pick a different quality. Its literally set in stone!

Factors to consider

Size

Your cabinet size will often dictate the size of the sink you can get. My advise is always to get the largest size your cabinet will accommodate. A large sink that can hold your cookie sheets and big pots is usually a safe way to go.

Single or Double?

This is personal preference.Nationwide the trend is to the single bowl.  How do you use your kitchen? Do you have a garbage disposal? Do you separate clean and dirty?

Material

Options here vary and choices are numerous! Stone Masters offers three of the most popular choices.

Stainless Steel: Is king is the kitchen. Cost effective, timeless, durable. It is however, more easily scratched then most other options. You want to look for 18 gauge and a limited lifetime warranty through the manufacturer with your sink for the biggest bang for you buck. Stone Masters sinks have both!

Composite: Offers a little bit of a more cohesive look and is going be to scratch resistant, stain resistant, and heat resistant. I’ve shot guns at these, caught them on fire! They take a beating! You pay little bit more for the durability though.

Soapstone: Non-porous and comes in custom sizes and options. Generally its used as a farmhouse sink, but it can also be under mounted. These sinks are heavy! They require additional support and either a retro-fitted cabinet or farmhouse sink base.
